Survival Retreat
Step outside your comfort zone and experience what it would be like to go through a real survival situation but under expert instruction and guidance throughout the experience.
This is an introductory level course built for those simply wanting more knowledge safeguarding themselves.
You will spend 2 nights, 3 days practicing the basic skills needed to survive including shelter building, fire starting, water disinfection, food considerations, problem solving and adapting to changing conditions within this time frame.
You will have the opportunity to put those skills to use in the backcountry, gaining confidence, self-reliance, and practical knowledge you can carry into your own outdoor adventures.

Learn the core principals of domesticating fire through hands on practice…
building, igniting and maintaining fire
primitive friction hand drill and bow drill
modern methods of rock and steel and ferrocerium rods
Through practice and patience, students will learn good fire etiquette including responding to environmental demand… what kind of fire is needed, for what purpose, where is suitable and why.
We will also discuss fire hazards and how to be safe during active fire ban status
